This year's provincials will be a first
for our community in a number of ways. ADHRA has spearheaded the re-design and
renovation of the DH course at Canada Olympic Park this year and from some of
the comments we've heard it's far better than it's been in a long time. More
technical, faster and with some bigger jumps it should prove to be a much
better race course. Also, this year will mark the first time that a 4X champion
will be crowned. Again, ADHRA, has designed and is overseeing the construction
of a 4X course at COP. In keeping with the theme of making the race courses at
COP fast and technical this course will be fast, steep and gnarly.
Constructed on the east side of COP the 4X course will start at the very highest point on the hill quickly dropping into a steep off chamber right hander turn scattered with log drops, a left hand berm follows and sets you up for a step-up, step-down table into a big right hand berm to rollers to step-up around the light pole to STEEP section of log drops, three tight snaky berms to step-up drop off to double jump over drainage ditch to sweeping turn on hillside to road gap (yes! a road gap at COP) to set of triple roller/double roller section that drops you into a roller coaster ride through the mini half pipe and then you finish with two big floaters into the finish line.
Sponsored by long time DH supporters Calgary Cycle this event is not to be missed!!
The 4X race is a one day affair on July 31 with all practice, qualifying and racing held on the Saturday, Sunday, August 31 will see the provincail DH champion crowned, so sign up now and take part in the best weekend of gravity racing to hit Calgary in a long time.
