Don't have a bike? Never ridden a BMX track? No problem! Local tracks will have loaner bikes and safety equipment available for those in need. Local club representatives will be on site to answer all questions and introduce new riders to basic BMX cycling skills.
"BMX Day in Alberta is an event that was initiated by Alberta Bicycle Association (in collaboration with Alberta BMX), to allow parents and children the opportunity to experience BMX Racing without the necessity of purchasing an annual license, protective race gear or even a bike. By dropping by one of our participating Alberta tracks, people new to the sport can experience BMX racing at their own pace, on a world class track, but with the guidance of experienced racers, BMX Coaches and involved BMX parents. The local BMX race club will supply everything needed for a fun day on the track. BMX racing - we do it for the fun of it."
- Shane Peterson, former Alberta Bicycle Association VP of BMX
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I need to have an Alberta Bicycle Association membership to participate?
No. If this is your first time riding on the BMX track, you may take advantage of a one-time-trial at your local track. All subsequent visits to the track will require you to purchase an Alberta Bicycle Association membership. For more information on membership and licensing, click here.
I don't have a BMX bike or any equipment, can I still attend the festivities at my local track?
Absolutely! Whether you want to ride the track or simply spectate, we encourage everyone to attend. Each track will have a limited supply of loaner bikes & safety equipment for those who are new to the sport. Make sure to contact your local track ahead of time if you plan to make use of loaner equipment. Anyone planning to ride the track must wear long pants - no shorts allowed!
I want to try my local track but can't make it on May 31st, can I still try it?
