Note to all BMX riders/administrators:

The UCI has updated their rule book with several changes effective May 21st, 2012. The UCI Rulebook with changes can be found at http://www.uci.ch/Modules/BUILTIN/getObject.asp?MenuId=MTkzNg&ObjTypeCode=FILE&type=FILE&id=NzU4Nzg&LangId=1. Updates are highlighted in Orange.  

The new rule that will affect us most is the altering of a BMX race calendar season (pg. 3 item 6.1.006) which states:

“The calendar season 2012 has started on August 1, 2011 and continues until December 31, 2012. From 2013 on, the calendar season starts on January 1 and continues until December 31.”

This means that if you are a 2^nd year Junior Elite rider, you will remain a Junior until the end of the calendar year. You will not be required to upgrade to Elite after World Championships as in previous years. On the same note, in the case of any 16 Expert riders, they will not be permitted to ride as a Junior Elite until 2013.
