March 28 , 2009 March 28, 2009 (Pruszkow, Poland) - Alberta’s Tara Whitten (Velocity) has won silver in the women’s Omnium. Whitten was tied for the lead heading into the final event the 500m TT where she finished 8th while Josephine Tomic (Australia) who she was tied with placed 7th. Following the 40-lap (10km) Points race won by Tomic where Canada’s Whitten placed 11th, Whitten was tied for the lead with the Australian both with 19 points going into the final Omnium event the 500m TT. Lesya Kalitovska (Ukraine) was 3rd with 20 points while Elisa Frisoni (Italy) was 4th at 25 points, followed by Yvonne Hijgenaar (Netherlands) in 5th with 26 points.
