As many of you have seen, Cycling Canada has extended their postponement of the 2020 National Calendar until July 6th. https://www.cyclingcanada.ca/sport/covid-19/news/domestic-calendar-update-june-events/. Alberta Bicycle Association continues to support Cycling Canada, though we understand each province is a unique situation and so we have made the decision to postpone or cancel events that are scheduled during the period up until August 31st. Decisions to hold events earlier or later than this date will be made with consideration of the guidance issued by Alberta Health Services and provincial authorities.
This means that ABA clubs, athletes and members may not participate in any group gatherings, including outdoor group rides, until Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Government deem it safe to do so.
Clubs may continue to offer solo “competitions” in a safe and respectful manner to their members. If doing so, clubs must follow local regulations and adhere to any park or private land closures. We also encourage clubs to continue to work with members over online platforms.
We hope that everyone remains safe during this time. Staff remain available to answer any questions or to help in any way we can.
