Speed Theory Cycling's Jason Lapierre Memorial Cycling Weekend
Presented by Stoney Trail Constructors
Provided by Speed Theory Cycling Club
Three races, Two days, one winner!
Located on completed but closed major highway! This is your opportunity to feel like a professional.
On offer for the weekend will be the Provincial ITT Championships, a late-afternoon Criterium, and a Road Race. All three events can be entered individually, however there will be prize money for the Omnium, which is outline in the tech guide found on www.speedtheoryteam.com. Registration is now also open at http://www.karelo.com/register.php?BID=352&BT=10#Ev7983
Provincial ITT Championships.
This will be a fast course with minimum corners, minimum elevation changes, and no traffic. The distance will be 40km for all Ability Categories and Divisions. The exception to this is for U15, U17, and Women Juniors and Paralympians, in which case it will be 15km. The Omnium will be contested in terms of Ability Category, therefore, you will race Prov ITT as whatever division is on your license, but we'll do another sort of the results based on Ability Cat for Omnium points. Out of province riders may contest this Provincial Championship, however, they are not eligible to receive medals.
Not an ABA member but want to race the Time Trial? Simply sign up for the ITT and choose 'Citizen Class' for both ability category and ITT competition category. Thank you for trying out a cycling event and we hope you get hooked! NOTE: Citizens are eligible to race the ITT only. Our insurance only covers you for a non-mass start event.
The Criterium.
This will be a fun circuit utilizing the new Metris Trail Interchange. You will not travel over a bridge but up to its foot and back down another exit ramp. Therefore there will be a slight hill every 2km lap. The Criterium will be contested by Ability Category only and the Women's A and B will be run together.
The Road Race.
This event will travel up one side of the 5 lane highway and down the other. The turn-around will occur on the new 16th avenue massive interchange and will include a couple short climbs. This will be a lapped course. Due to having the opportunity at this unique venue, the finish line will only be travelled through if you are finishing the road race and not on every lap. This is awesome because results should be much easier to compile and mistakes greatly limited.
The Omnium.
The Omnium will consist of a compilation of points for all three events. Prize money will be distributed for this event. For an explanation of how the points work, see the technical guide.
